Nobody Wanted Dog With Cleft Palate Until His Crooked Smile Stole Someone’s Heart

Clefford can’t help it that when he smiles, it just happens to be crooked. Sadly, his owners loved him but they had no money to help the sweet doggo correct his condition. Since they were homeless, they surrendered him to the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Fortunately, the dog adjusted to shelter life, but months dragged on. He had no one to call his very own family. That is, until shelter volunteer, Will Stoltenberg, got close to the dog. When the fall of 2017 rolled around, Will decided to permanently welcome Clefford into his life.

The dog happily adjusted to the new home with the other pets in the family. Clefford had four surgeries and only deals with a small hole in his mouth. We like his crooked mouth and nose, and we want to give him a big smooch. How about you?
