Stray Mama Dog Died, Leaving Behind Her 10 Pups To Survive Alone On The Streets

Sadly, there are more than 200 million stray dogs worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals estimates about 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters every year, writes ilovemydogsomuch

Since strays usually aren’t neutered or spayed, this awfully large number will just keep growing. Some strays spend their entire lives on the streets, while others struggle to get by each day.

One of those stray dogs was a pregnant mama dog who wound up giving birth to eleven puppies while living on the streets. It’s hard to keep a couple newborn puppies alive on the streets, let alone eleven, but this mama did such a great job, despite not having a safe environment to raise them in.

Thankfully, they were all rescued, but the mom ended up passing away for reasons unknown, along with one of her puppies. This still left ten puppies, who were only a couple of weeks old and now without their mother.

This meant that they needed assistance to survive, since they weren’t even old enough to eat on their own yet. Luckily, Doggie Protective Services stepped in to help them.

Without proper nutrition and care, these puppies wouldn’t survive, so staff with DPS provided them with round-the-clock care, hand-feeding them every four to six hours, and doing whatever was necessary to keep them alive and strong.

Their hard work paid off, and these puppies grew bigger and stronger with every passing day. They grew up to be healthy dogs and have since found loving forever homes!
