Woman Abuses And Neglects Dying Dog, Gets Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges
Boomer, an Australian cattle dog from Yorktown, was recently rescued by the local police after being extremely abused by his owner, 44-year-old Michelle DiGennaro, writes ilovemydogsomuch
Some neighbors had called in the police after seeing Boomer on the brink of death due to starvation and dehydration.
When the SPCA of Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement found Boomer, his emaciation had progressed to an advanced state. His skull, ribs, hip and pelvic bones were all protruding and it would have been just days before he died. Michelle reportedly did not give him food and water for days, and left him in a state of extreme neglect.
Boomer’s health took a further hit due to untreated ear infections, skin infection, arthritis and severe luxating patellas. He was shaking in pain but Michelle had no intention to help her pet or take him to the vet’s for proper medical treatment.
The SPCA received a lot of donations towards Boomer’s recovery after his heartbreaking story reached animal lovers. He is currently at only 50% of his normal body weight, and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Meanwhile, Michelle has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty. We hope she receives the appropriate punishment for her heartless crime.
