He Was Hit With Nail Gun, Thrown Into Wall & Left To Die – But He Never Gave Up

Indiana Jones, nicknamed Indy, has had an extremely rough start to life. So bad that he wasn’t expected to survive, writes ilovemydogsomuch

The exact details of his past are unknown, but what the rescue does know is that during his first eight weeks of life, he had a nail gun fall on him, he was left to starve, and was thrown against a wall.

When a visiting nurse found him, he was on the brink of death. He was extremely emaciated with his hip bones sticking out, he had ulcers on his eyes, and he was unable to sit up, stand or walk.

A family decided to take him in and do the best they could to help poor Indy. They fed him, treated his eye ulcers, got him a wheelchair, and showed him what love felt like. But Indy needed much more help than that. His condition was not an easy one to deal with, so eventually, the family had to let him go.

That’s when St. Francis Community Animal Rescue & Education in Murphysboro, IL, stepped up to help. They welcomed Indy with open arms this past March, and got started on his long journey to recovery.

And so began Indy’s therapy, which he did every day in different forms to help strengthen his legs to get him walking on his own again. Some days he would do therapy in the pool, where he eventually began kicking his back legs on his own.

Other days he would walk on land, but this would prove to be much harder for Indy. Staff made a genius contraption to help Indy with his walking. With wood, pool noodles, and crib pads, they made a safe place for Indy to practice his walking multiple times a day, regardless of the weather.

Today, Indy is already doing so much better. In the video below, you’ll see Indy walking outside in the grass while on a leash. He is still a little wobbly, but he is able to walk so much better than ever before! It’s hard to imagine that this resilient pup was once unable to even sit up, let alone walk!

As for the person who did this to Indy – St. Francis Community Animal Rescue explained on Facebook that if the people who found him were to have pressed charges, Indy would have had to stay at the county Animal Control facility until such time as the case had been decided. Since Indy needed urgent medical attention, he most likely would have died at the facility, which is why his rescuers opted to save his life rather than press charges.
