Man sings to calm dogs in the shelter and his attitude has helped the adoptions

Vance County Animal Shelter has added to its enrichment program in a unique way. Animal Service Officer Chad Olds brought his talents to work to calm the shelter dogs and bring them some peace, writes valuablestories

Chad has been at the shelter for about five months. And his role requires a hands-on approach with animals interacting with them and keeping their spaces clean. And when someone suggested he played for the dogs, he was a bit skeptical at first.

But he decided to try and brought his guitar to work. When he started singing and playing “Like Red On A Rose” by Alan Jackson, the dogs noticed and almost all of them stopped barking.

“I’m happy to be the voice of these animals and it’s bringing so much positive awareness to them,” Chad told ABC News. “My administrator allowing such things to be wonderful, we are thinking outside the box and being creative to help these animals. So you could not ask a better administrator to allow such things.“
