Upon closer examination, all the puppies had distemper, a potentially fatal virus that claims the lives of many puppies. Sadly, Murray’s siblings did not survive.

Murray was scheduled to be euthanized, but then he started to wag his tail. The vet decided to continue fighting for the sweet dog. The virus took all of Murray’s teeth, so his tongue hangs outside his mouth. Murray startled some people because he of his unusual bone structure, due to the virus. His unique looks are what attracted Mackenzie Gallant and her family to adopt him.

The adorable pup was once labeled as ‘ugly’, but now has a forever home who sees him as perfect. “The signature tongue out is just the cutest thing, and his crooked features, if you look at his face closely you notice his ears aren’t aligned right on his head,” the family tells Mirror.

He shares the home with canine and human siblings. Mackenzie, his human sister, made Murray his own Instagram page. The page was setup to raise awareness of distemper in dogs, praise the good work of Sato Project and for everyone to stay updated on Murray.

Murray has many followers who think different is beautiful. “Murray is so special because of his personality, he is a survivor and has no idea anything is wrong with him and is always happy and wagging his tail. He does and tries to do everything with his doggy siblings,” states Mackenzie.
