Unloved Dog Buries Her Face In A Corner In An Attempt To Become Invisible Again

Lilac the stray Husky was living near an elementary school for over 9 months, and was used to casual human indifference, writes ilovemydogsomuch

No one ever bothered to show her any kindness, so Lilac gradually got used to being an invisible and unloved dog. One day, a bunch of well-meaning rescuers showed up and captured her with a snare, but poor Lilac was unprepared for any sort of human contact.

Lilac was never aggressive with the rescuers, but she was clearly traumatized by the rescue. The nervous girl refused to make eye contact as her loving caretakers bathed her. But it was the moment she was placed in her cozy kennel that the rescuers saw the extent of her deep fears surrounding humans.

Once Lilac was in her kennel, she simply faced the steel wall and froze in an attempt to be invisible to humans again. The affection showed by her caretakers only confused her further, and it seemed as if she would do anything to disappear from the reach of humans. Soon, a vet examination revealed the real reason behind her aversion to humans.

Lilac’s X-ray results showed that her body was littered with multiple gun pellets, which indicated that someone had brutally tortured her some time back. While the pooch began healing physically in the shelter, her mental wounds still prevented her from engaging with humans.

The shelter later asked trainer Farren Mahone to help Lilac with behavioral therapy. Farren believed that “being invisible” was Lilac’s defense mechanism against the rotten world. So with her specialized trauma therapy, the skittish pooch began loosening up around humans within a few months.

Lilac’s turning point came when a woman named Tanja adopted her despite her “issues”. From the very first day, Tanja treated Lilac like a normal dog, and not a “damaged soul”. This was the one thing that won Lilac over, and she started feeling genuinely loved and cherished in her new home! Today, Lilac shares love with her humans and doggie siblings, and no longer wishes to become invisible!
