Owners Lie About How Dog Broke Her Leg In 2 Places, Vets Forced To Amputate

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is the largest nonprofit animal shelter in southern Colorado. Staff got involved in a horrific case of animal abuse after a dog named Jazzmin arrived at their facility, writes ilovemydogsomuch

Sweet Jazzmin had a bone that had broken completely in half with evidence of a healing fracture near her knee. In order to protect the dog and launch a full investigation, they decided to impound her.

Sadly, the situation worsened. Once Jazzmin was examined, she also had signs of an embedded muzzle on her nose and a fracture to her hip. The story her owners told officers did not match the nature of her extensive injuries.

Police officers were able to charge her owners with cruelty to animals since they had enough evidence. The Humane Society of Pikes Peak gained full ownership of the dog so her recovery could begin.

Unfortunately, her broken leg had to be amputated but she is doing well and beginning the slow process of recovery.

We are grateful to know caring people exist who help animals and get them out of horrible situations. We wish you well, Jazzmin!
