Pups Sold In Illegal Puppy Trade Were Dumped In Box On Road When They Got Parvo

A cyclist found puppies who were abandoned in a box without food or water at the side of the road on Shopland Road in Rochford near Southend, England, writes ilovemydogsomuch

One of the puppies had sadly already died by the time the cyclist spotted them. The other pups, who were around eight weeks old, were in bad shape and in dire need of medical attention.

The surviving puppies were rushed to a vet, where they both tested positive for Parvovirus. Parvo usually affects puppies under six months old who haven’t been vaccinated yet, and causes severe vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration.

The vets then called the RSPCA for help.

The pups do have microchips, but they are from Hungary and not registered in England. Because of this, rescuers believe that the pups could have been imported from abroad to sell, but were abandoned once they grew sick.

“It would appear that these pups are the victims of the cruel puppy trade and we are keen to find out what happened to them,” investigating RSPCA inspector Adam Jones told Yahoo.

The two puppies, a male and female, are currently on fluids and medications and receiving top-notch care.

If you have any information on this case or who could have dumped these dogs, please call the RSPCA at 0300-123-8018.
