Officers Seen Dragging Senior Great Dane In Pain With Broken Legs Across Floor

Dog lovers around the world are outraged after footage of an emaciated stray dog at a shelter is seen being dragged across the floor by two people, writes ilovemydogsomuch

The incident took place at the BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas, and involved an elderly, thin Great Dane dog who was found living in terrible conditions. The dog was scared, sick, and alone, and the footage is being shared across social media.

In the video, two officers are seen dragging the dog as her legs hit the floor over and over. Sadly, the dog appears to be in awful pain as she has no choice but to be dragged along by the two men. Not long after the video was posted on social media, SNARR Animal Rescue Northeast stepped up to take the dog in.

According to SNARR, she is very old, thing, both legs appear broken, and she cannot stand on her own. She is elderly and has masses on her body. They called her depressed but planned to help her as much as possible. In an update to their original post, SNARR said some folks suggested they euthanize the dog, whom they named Merry Bell. However, they would not do that and considered her to be “fixable.”

She is being fostered and SNARR posted to Facebook, “Merry Bell is extremely sweet and very grateful for her second chance. She’s happy, affectionate, and eats like a champ.
