Rescue teams were out on the street caring for the calls that were coming in throughout the day, according to ABC 13.

The effort to help those dogs reached much further than Texas. There was even a shelter in New Jersey that was taking in dozens of cats and dogs from a shelter in North Texas.

According to the outlet, Adam Reynolds, a worker at the SPCA in Houston, said that the Houston SPCA has a great relationship with its staff, foster partners, and other facilities throughout Texas. It seems as if rescues from other states were willing to chip in as well.

Reynolds continued: “We have a long road ahead of us. A lot of them were in pretty bad shape, but we have a great veterinary staff caring and tending to the animals and they’re getting the care they deserve.”
