Carjackers Steals Car With Woman’s Dog Inside – Car Found But Dog Still Missing
A heartbroken Elmhurst woman is desperately seeking public help after her beloved pooch, Zoey, was stolen during an auto theft, writes ilovemydogsomuch
The 6-year-old tan Terrier Shih-Tzu mix was waiting in the car at the parking lot while her owner was inside Elmhurst Shopping Center, when the thief took control of the car and drove away.
Owner Yvette Colbec could barely hold back her tears as she pleaded with the community to help locate Zoey, who has been her emotional support dog and constant companion for the past 6 years. Zoey means the world to the devastated woman, and not having her around is like “missing a piece of her heart”. Yvette even agreed to forgive the thief if her dog was returned safe and sound.
Just 2 days after the incident, the Elmhurst Police Department was able to trace the stolen vehicle, but there was no sign of Zoey. As per a statement made by the cops, the car was being driven by a man who claimed to have traded “5 bags of crack cocaine” for the vehicle somewhere on Chicago’s west side. Formal charges are pending for the time being, mostly because Zoey is still missing.
Currently, there have been no leads on the whereabouts of the dog. She was last spotted in the car at a crossing on the night she was stolen.
