Dog Was Locked In Cage For 12 Years, Loses Both Eyes But Finally Tastes Freedom

This is the story of a Chihuahua named Little Belle, who was discovered in a puppy mill in Portugal where she was trapped in a cage for 12 horrendous years.

When local rescue group “Bianca Associado” raided the puppy mill, they were nauseated to see several disoriented dogs on the verge of death due to years of neglect. However, Little Belle’s health was the worst of all due to her advanced age. Her most pressing issues were leishmaniasis, muscle loss and glaucoma. That’s when a woman from the Netherlands named Irene came forward to adopt Little Belle.

With Irene, Little Belle discovered the beauty life has to offer for the very first time. After spending the past decade birthing puppies in her cage, Little Belle’s heart exploded when she finally had a taste of the freedom she never knew. Unfortunately, over the next 3 years, Little Belle’s eyes had to be removed one by one due to her illness, but her survival spirit only grew stronger.

Despite having a terrifying youth, Little Belle has blossomed into an adventurous dog determined to make the most out of her remaining years. She loves basking in the sun and cuddling with her mom and doggie siblings. Thanks to her heightened senses, she has no trouble navigating around!

Little Belle has made peace with her haunting past and the love of her forever family keeps her going every day. But millions of puppy mill dogs are still living pitiful lives in the name of facilitating stock for pet stores.
