Hairless Stray Dog From The Philippines Is Given Another Chance In Life

The stray dogs population is a massive problem in Third World countries, including the Philippines.

In Dumaguete City on the island of Negros, Philippines, there was an emaciated, hairless dog wandering the neighborhood. The dog was suffering from mange, a skin condition caused by parasites that causes lesions, bald patches, inflammation, and scabs. Apart from mange, the dog had a broken leg.

It was very obvious that the dog needed help.

Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary saw the dog and saved her from the streets. hristine and Robert Bernardo to help the neglected, abused, and abandoned dogs roaming in the city.

Later on, Christine and Robert named the dog Peanut.

Peanut was brought to the vet for assessment and treatment. Despite being scared and confused, it was evident that she was longing for human affection. It was estimated that Peanut was about eight months old when she was rescued from the streets of Dumaguete.

Peanut ate all the food served to her with gusto. Rescuers found it as a sign that she wanted to survive and live.

Thankfully, Peanut’s condition was highly treatable. She was immediately put into foster care to help her with his recovery because the shelter might be a stressful place for her.

While at foster care, Peanut showed immense progress. She also learned to play with fellow dogs. For the first time, she experienced sleeping on a soft bed at night.

Slowly, Peanut showed signs of progress. She started to grow her hair and gain weight.

Two months after she was put into foster care, Peanut was able to find her forever home!

Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary said that stray dogs can be at their best. They only needed people to believe in them. Peanut has one fantastic story to tell to the world.

Let us all give stray dogs a second chance!
