Ultra Rare Black Flamingo Caught On Camera In Cyprus

An ultra-rare black flamingo was identified on the island of Cyprus, numerous think this is the only bird of its kind ever seen.

The flamingo detected is believed to have a hereditary condition called melanism which transforms its pigments a dark color due to an over-generation of melanin.

“From what have seen on the web, there was just one other sighting … in Israel, so possibly this is the second one,” stated Pantelis Charilaou, head of the ecological division of the British Sovereign Bases.

The bird looks totally black aside from a tuft of white feathers on its back.

It was seen feeding with various other typical tinted flamingos on the financial institutions of a lake in Cypris.

“A melanistic person is an extremely, very unusual discovery … essentially its the opposite of an albino when the private produces even more melanin than regular,” Charilaou informed Reuters Tv.

t is thought this bird coincides one that was found in Israel back in 2014.
