But anyway not all animals waiting there have it easy, some are not that lucky and have to wait longer to get adopted especially senior dogs that wonder if they will ever get out. There are times that you should just get that final push to stand out from the crowd and get your story heard from people.

That’s what one lonely canine did, and the results were simply amazing. A pit bull called Daliah at only six months old arrived at Santa Barbara Humane Society in October 2008, the shelter staff discovered she is an amazing pooch if you take the time to know her. “She is a little timid when meeting new people but once she gets to know you she is such a sweetheart,” Erica Jackson, canine adoption counselor at SBHS, told .

But sadly people always failed to see what a sweet dog she was, since over the years she always got passed over for adoption. No one knows the reason, maybe because of the problems pit bulls always have finding families or maybe she was shy, but whatever the reason was the dog ended up staying at the shelter for 7 long years.

Seeing her waiting all this time broke everyone’s heart, she was at she shelter longer than any other dog and the staff there finally found her a home. “Dahlia has been here a long time and is yearning to get out!” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “To play with you, to run with other dogs, to burn energy with the kids, and to teach you how to give the perfect belly rub.”

“She may look a little scary – which comes in handy sometimes — but that is wrong! She is such a love bucket!” It was on sad and heartbreaking photo, one that emphasized just how long she had been waiting for a family—that got people’s attention: “I have been here 2,531 days and counting,” the poor dog’s sign read. “Can you help me?”

This proved to be a successful plea, the photo got 2.000 shares on Facebook and adoption requests started to flood in. The shelter found the perfect match soon and sweet Dahlia finally got a deserving home. This was exactly the happy ending the sweet canine deserved.

“We are over the moon!” the shelter wrote. “Thank you to everyone that shared her story and reached out to us!” We are so happy for you girl, go thrive in life.
