Dog Covered In Scabs From Head To Toe Gets Second Chance At Life

We are hoping to celebrate by providing 3 million meals to shelter pets this week, but we need your help.
Every year, 6.5 million dogs and cats enter U.S. animal shelters – which is a lot of mouths to feed.
Pet food is one of the biggest expenses for shelters. Just think about all the animals they could help if they could use the money spent on food for medical expenses or other vital supplies.

Tuck is this year’s spokesdog and just one of the lives saved thanks in part to your generous food donations.
The little guy arrived at Starfish Animal Rescue underweight, covered in scabs and missing nearly all his hair. He was found wandering the streets in Kentucky and suffering from mange, several infections, lyme disease, and cornea ulcers. He was absolutely miserable and in desperate need of medical care.
Melinda Kintz and family decided at the spur-of-the-moment to foster “Bugs” and are so glad they did. Tuck, formally known as “Bugsy” (short for Bugsy Malon), may be small but he is one tough dog.
Tuck made a full recovery thanks to proper medical treatment, nutritious food, and unconditional love. He did sustain some permanent damage to one eye but is now a healthy and happy dog.
He found his forever home with Lisa and her husband Len who met him when he arrived at the shelter. She saw Tuck at his worse and fell in love. The sweet pup now spends his days playing with his canine brother Oakley.
But his favorite days are the ones when he joins his dad at his art studio. He greets each student and enjoys being the center of attention.
His foster family also fell in love with “Bugs” and said, “He is incredibly sweet, social, funny and may very well be the pup we always refer to as “the one who got away.”
The shelter was able to save Tuck due in part to the money saved from the generous food donation to the rescue from GreaterGood’s Rescue Bank program and The Animal Rescue Site.
