Video Shows Stranger Paying For An Elderly Man’s Meal In An Australian McDonald’s After Seeing Him Struggle

In these difficult times, so many people have tried their absolute hardest to make life better for those who have been struggling. This has included helping those who are in financial difficulty and those who have struggled due to an existing disability or because they are of advanced age. Social isolation has also left many of us longing for the days when we could all communicate together and move freely.

A video from 2018, which has once again been shared widely online, has reminded us that good people, willing to help others have always existed, and will continue to do so when we have defeated the pandemic.

The heart-warming video from Australia shows a laborer in a McDonald’s who selflessly paid for an elderly man’s food when he saw that he was struggling with spare change. The video was secretly recorded by the man’s wife.

Dave Love, filmed by wife, Melanie Langley, paid for his own food and the man’s food at the same time, which cost him around $20 Australian dollars, in the town of Bendigo.

The man then said to Dave:

“Thank you very much… you’re a gentleman.”

On the Facebook post that went viral, Melanie said:

“This man melts my heart… Your true character is revealed when nobody’s watching.”

Dave was later interviewed by a local radio station who hunted him down after seeing the video. In the interview, Dave said simply:

“I noticed an old man just putting a big pocketful of change on the counter. We only put a big pocketful of change up when we’ve emptied our money box or something like that… My heart melted. He just reminded me of my dad. I’ve since learnt his story, he’s lost his daughter and his wife. He’s a real cute old man… I’d love to just go to his house and have a cup of tea with him and talk, that would mean a lot. We’re Aussie. That’s what we do for each other.”

It is hoped that such acts of kindness act as an inspiration and that we never lose the social solidarity that we have seen during these dark days.
